Before every show, the atmosphere is buzzing as patrons walk into the Gaslight Theatre. Honky- tonk piano melodies and the scent of salty, fresh popcorn permeate the air.

Dozens of black and white photos from past productions line the wood-paneled walls. And as audience members take their seats at one of the dozens of tables facing the curtained stage, they'll notice busy costumed servers scurrying about the intimate theater. They carry with them platters of hot dogs, chicken fingers, deep-fried zucchini, sandwiches, salads and more. The drinks are icy cold, from mugs of foamy beer to milkshakes. It's an intoxicating mix, but here's the thing:

You can't just walk up to the box office and get a ticket for that night's performance. The shows invariably sell out. If you hope to see "Secret Agent Man" in July, for example, and you don't already have tickets, forget about it. There are some seats available in August, mostly for the 9:30 p.m. shows on Fridays and Saturdays.

"On the first Wednesday in May, our Christmas show goes on sale," explained the Gaslight's Nancy LaViola.

She continued.

"On the first Wednesday in July, our winter show goes on sale. The first Wednesday in September, the spring show goes on sale. On the first Wednesday in November, the summer show goes on sale. The first Wednesday in February, the fall show."

All of the shows sell out, she said.

"The fall and summer shows sell out a little less quickly."
